You've synced classes before, but the extension is missing or turned off in this browser. Turn it back on or install it to keep your classes in sync β the message itself says exactly that: "We can't find the extension in this browser. Turn it back on or install it to keep your classes in sync."
Use BetterCampus without the extension
Updated 3 days ago
BetterCampus works entirely in your browser at app.bettercampus.com, no extension needed. Sign in, then bring your classes in with Sync data: paste your school's calendar link, or skip setup and add your classes by hand.
Sign in with your BetterCampus account
One BetterCampus account works in both the app and the extension. When the two are connected, signing in or signing out in one updates the other automatically β there's no confirmation step, it just happens. If you're new to accounts, Sign in with your school account explains the difference between your school login and your BetterCampus account.
If your account has no classes yet, the app sends you straight to the Sync your classes page when you first open it. Signing up for a new account ends in this same setup flow.
The Sync data setup flow
Sync data is the app's setup flow. You can open it anytime from Sync data in the topbar (its tooltip is "Get your courses and assignments in."). When a calendar feed is needed, setup has four steps:
Add the extension. The page shows "Checking for the extensionβ¦" while it looks, then offers Add to Chrome, Add to Edge, or Add to Firefox β see Download on Chrome, Download on Edge, or Download on Firefox. Safari isn't supported yet; select Join the waitlist. If the browser it detected isn't the one you use, pick Choose a different browser β your detected browser is marked "yours". When the extension is already there, the step shows Already Installed.
Open your LMS once. The step is labeled "Open your LMS" until it detects your school platform, then the label changes to name your platform. Once your platform is detected, the step shows Connected.
Add your calendar link. Connect automatically through the extension, or paste the link yourself β both are below.
See your classes and tasks. When setup finishes you'll see "You're all set!" β select Go to My Stuff. Your classes are imported and you get the toast "Your classes are synced".
Connect your calendar automatically
If the extension is installed and your school platform supports it, the flow offers Connect my Canvas calendar (the button names your platform). Selecting it lets the extension read your calendar link from your school platform and save it to your account to keep your due dates in sync, and you can remove it anytime.
Automatic connection is the convenient path, not the guaranteed one: pasting the link yourself always works. If automatic connection fails, fall back to pasting.
Paste your calendar link instead
Pasting works with or without the extension, and it's the way in whenever automatic connection fails. You'll need the calendar link from your school platform's calendar β Add a school calendar feed shows where to find it for Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, and Brightspace.
In the Sync data flow, find the field labeled Paste your Canvas calendar link (it says just "Paste your calendar link" when your platform isn't detected yet).
Paste the link and select Add link (the button says Connect calendar when pasting is the main path on your screen).
Saving starts the import right away β this page has no preview step. When the link matches a saved feed, the status shows Calendar linked. It's the same school calendar feed covered in Add a school calendar feed, which also covers checking a feed before you save it, feed limits, and removing one later.
Skip setup and add classes by hand
Select Skip & add manually to jump past the calendar steps entirely. You land on the Your courses page, which puts it like this: "Add the classes you're taking. Tasks, notes and grades work the same as synced courses." Add each class yourself β Add courses manually has the steps. Selecting Skip & add manually also stops the app from sending you to setup on later visits.
Come back to setup anytime: open Sync data from the topbar, or Sync options from the Courses page.
Troubleshooting
"We can't find the extension in this browser"
Automatic calendar connection fails
Automatic connection can fail for a few reasons: the extension couldn't find your calendar link in your school platform, the tab it checked wasn't your platform (open your platform in another tab, or reload it if it's open, then try again), the extension didn't answer (make sure it's turned on, then try again), you weren't signed in to the BetterCampus extension, or your link couldn't be saved. Whatever the reason, the fix is the same: paste your link below instead. Pasting always works.
"Connecting automatically isn't available right now"
Automatic connection isn't available at the moment. Paste your link below instead.
