If something isn't working right and you can't find a specific fix, this guide covers the basics. Try these steps first, then reach out if you're still stuck.

Quick fixes to try first

Most issues can be solved with these steps. Work through them in orderβ€”each one takes under a minute.

  1. Refresh the page β€” Press Ctrl+R (Windows) or Cmd+R (Mac). Sometimes your learning platform just needs a fresh load.

  2. Make sure you're on your school's learning platform β€” BetterCampus only works on supported pages like your school's Canvas site. It won't activate on other websites.

  3. Check that you're signed into your school's platform β€” If you're logged out, BetterCampus can't load your courses or assignments.

  4. Update your browser β€” BetterCampus needs a recent browser version. Go to your browser's settings to check for updates.

  5. Clear your browser cache β€” Go to your browser's settings, find "Clear browsing data," select "Cached images and files," and clear it. Then refresh your learning platform.

  6. Reinstall the extension β€” Go to your browser's extensions page, remove BetterCampus, then reinstall it from the extension store. Your settings will stay saved.

If reinstalling doesn't work, try disabling other extensions temporarily. Some extensions can conflict with BetterCampus.

Common gotchas

BetterCampus isn't showing up at all

First, check that the extension is installed and enabled in your browser's extensions page. Then make sure you're actually on your school's learning platform pageβ€”not a different LMS, a generic login page, or another website.

Features are missing or different than expected

Some features depend on your plan. Free users get essential tools; Pro unlocks everything. You can check your plan from the BetterCampus menu in your browser toolbar.

My school blocks extensions

Some schools restrict browser extensions. If you're on a school-managed device or restricted network, you might need to use a personal device or ask your IT department for help.
