Find your school's learning platform URL

You need your school's learning platform URL to use BetterCampus. This guide will help you find it quickly.

What a learning platform URL looks like

Every school has its own learning management system (LMS) web address. The most common is Canvas, but your school might use a different platform. The URL usually looks like one of these:

  • schoolname.instructure.com — for example, ucla.instructure.com (Canvas)

  • canvas.schoolname.edu — for example, canvas.mit.edu (Canvas)

  • A custom school portal link or student hub

This is the page where you log in to your school's learning platform with your school email and password.

How to find your school's URL

If you don't know your school's learning platform URL, try these steps in order:

  1. Search on Canvas's school search page. If your school uses Canvas, go to Canvas's school search page and type your school's name. Try different variations — full name, abbreviations, or your school district name.

  2. Check your school's website. Look for "Canvas," "Learning Management," "Student Portal," or "LMS" links on your school's main site or student resources page.

  3. Check your email. If your school has sent you emails about your learning platform, the links inside will usually go to your login page.

  4. Ask your school's IT help desk. They'll have the exact URL for your institution.

Common problems

I searched for my school on Canvas but nothing came up

Try different search terms. Use your school's full name, common abbreviations, or your district name. Some schools are listed under their district rather than their campus name.

If your school doesn't appear, it might use a different learning platform than Canvas. Check your school's website or contact your IT help desk.

I'm not sure if I found the right URL

When you visit the correct URL, you should see a login page that mentions your school's name. If the page doesn't look right or mentions a different school, you may have the wrong URL.

My school uses a portal instead of a direct URL

Some schools have you log in through a main student portal that redirects to the learning platform. If that's the case for your school, log in through your portal first, then navigate to your courses from there. BetterCampus will work once you're on a supported page where you're signed in.

Next step

Once you have your school's learning platform URL and you're signed in, BetterCampus will automatically activate when you visit supported pages.

If BetterCampus doesn't recognize your custom Canvas address, you can add a custom Canvas URL to help the extension find it.
