I can't sign in to my account
There are two separate logins with BetterCampus: your school LMS login (handled by your school, such as Canvas) and your BetterCampus account (for Pro features like AI tools, planner, and grade tracking). The fix depends on which one you're having trouble with.
School LMS login problems
BetterCampus works with your existing school session—it doesn't handle your school's learning platform login itself. If you can't sign in to your school's LMS (like Canvas), this is something your school controls.
You're on the wrong URL
Every school has its own learning platform address. If you're trying to sign in at the wrong one, your login won't work.
Make sure you're at your school's correct URL. It usually looks like:
sandbox.instructure.comoryourschool.instructure.com(Canvas)canvas.yourschool.eduYour school's student portal or learning platform page
If you're not sure what your school's URL is, search your school name + "Canvas" or "learning platform," or check your school's IT website.
Your school credentials are wrong
Your school's learning platform uses your school username and password—not a separate password. If your login isn't working:
Double-check you're using the same username and password you use for other school systems (email, portal, etc.)
Try resetting your password through your school's IT portal, not through the learning platform
Contact your school's IT help desk if you're locked out
Your school's platform is down
Sometimes the learning platform itself has issues. If your login was working before but suddenly stopped:
Check your school's status page or IT announcements
Try again in a few minutes—it may be a temporary outage
BetterCampus support can't fix school login problems—your school's IT team controls your school account and password.
BetterCampus account problems
Your BetterCampus account is separate from your school login. You only need one if you're using Pro features like AI study tools, the planner, grade tracking, or calendar sync.
You don't remember which email you used
Search all your email accounts for messages from "bettercampus". Any welcome emails, receipts, or notifications will show you which email address you signed up with.
You can't access that email anymore
If you no longer have access to the email address tied to your BetterCampus account, you'll need to create a new account with your current email. It only takes a minute, and you'll be up and running again.
You're an email user and the magic link isn't working
If you signed up with email, you sign in using a magic link (no password). If the link isn't working:
Make sure you're clicking the most recent link—older links expire
Check your spam folder if you didn't receive the email
Request a new magic link from the sign-in page
You don't have a BetterCampus account yet
If you never created a BetterCampus account, you can use the extension without one—but features like the planner, AI tools, and grade tracking require a free account. Look for the sign-up prompt in the BetterCampus sidebar.
BetterCampus accounts can be created with Google, Microsoft, or email. Email users sign in with a magic link—no password to remember.
