If flashcard generation fails, you'll see an error message. Try these steps:
Make sure you're connected to the internet.
Refresh the page and try again.
If you're uploading a file, check that it's not corrupted and is under the size limit.
The Study page is your hub for creating and reviewing study materials. From here, you can generate flashcards and quizzes from your notes, upload files to study with AI, and play study games to test what you've learned.
The Study landing page shows your study materials front and center. You'll see:
My Study Sets — All the study sets you've created, organized by course or topic
Quick actions — Create new flashcards, quizzes, or summaries right from the landing page
Study games — Play games like Match and Blocks to review your materials in a more engaging way
Study sets group your flashcards, quizzes, and files together. Think of each set as a folder for one course or topic.
Study sets keep all your study materials for a course in one place.
Open BetterCampus and go to the Study section.
Click Create Study Set.
Select the course this set is for.
Click Create Study Set to confirm.
Your new study set appears under My Study Sets on the Study landing page.
Once you have a study set, you can create flashcards inside it.
Open the study set you want to add flashcards to.
Click Generate Flashcards.
Choose which sources to include — course materials, notes, or uploaded files.
BetterCampus AI creates flashcards based on your selected sources.
Review the flashcards. Each card shows the term and definition.
Click View all flashcards to see the full set and start studying.
You can also generate quizzes from your study materials.
Open a study set.
Click Generate Quiz.
Select the sources you want the quiz to cover.
Review the generated questions and answers.
Start the quiz when you're ready to test yourself.
Study games turn your flashcards and quizzes into interactive experiences. Games use the materials you've already created, so you can review the same content in different ways.
Blocks is a game where you match terms and definitions by selecting the right pairs. As you answer correctly, blocks clear from the board.
Match is a memory-style game where you flip cards to find matching term-definition pairs. It's a fun way to reinforce vocabulary and concepts from your study materials.
To play a study game:
Open a study set with flashcards or quizzes.
Go to the Games area.
Choose Blocks or Match.
Play through the game using your study materials.
Games are a great way to review when you're tired of traditional flashcards. They use the same content, so you're still learning what you need — just in a more engaging format.
When studying flashcards or quizzes, you can choose how you want to review:
All cards — Review every card in the set
Missed only — Review only the cards you got wrong in a previous session. This helps you focus on material you're still learning.
To use missed-only mode, complete a flashcard or quiz session first. Then select Missed only when you start your next review.
Add your own notes, PDFs, or other files to a study set, and BetterCampus will use them to generate flashcards, quizzes, and summaries.
Open a study set.
Click Upload files or Add files.
Select a file from your computer.
Use the file to generate flashcards, quizzes, or summaries.
After uploading files, you can ask questions about them. The AI reads your files and answers based on their content.
Open a study set with uploaded files.
Type your question in the chat area.
Get an answer pulled directly from your files.
Flashcards and quizzes follow your BetterCampus theme settings. If you've set a custom theme or enabled dark mode, your study materials will match that appearance.
For card visuals, you can choose to use your course colors — this makes each study set's cards match the color of the course they belong to.
To change appearance settings for study materials, open a flashcard or quiz session and look for the settings button. From there, you can adjust how cards are displayed.

If flashcard generation fails, you'll see an error message. Try these steps:
Make sure you're connected to the internet.
Refresh the page and try again.
If you're uploading a file, check that it's not corrupted and is under the size limit.
If your file won't upload:
Check the file size. Free users can upload files up to 5 MB; Pro users can upload up to 25 MB.
Free users can add up to 10 files per study set. If you've reached this limit, remove existing files or upgrade to Pro for unlimited files per set.
Make sure the file format is supported (PDFs, text files, and common document formats work best).
Try a different browser or refresh the extension.
If you see a message that you've reached your limit:
Free users: You can upgrade to Pro to get unlimited flashcards, study sets, and file chats.
Pro users: You shouldn't see limits — if you do, try refreshing or re-authenticating your account.
If a generated quiz has duplicate or identical answer options, try regenerating. BetterCampus creates distinct answer options for each question, but if you see this issue, refresh and generate again.
