Change your Canvas theme

Making Canvas look like yours is one of the best parts of BetterCampus. Browse thousands of themes made by other students and switch your look whenever you want.

Find the theme browser

  1. Click the BetterCampus extension icon in your browser toolbar.

  2. Click the Themes tab.

  3. Choose where to browse:

    • Community — Browse themes shared by other students

    • My themes — View your saved, created, and liked themes

Switching between tabs or views resets your position to the top. If you had a search or a theme preview open, it will close when you switch tabs.

Pick a new theme

Once you're in the theme browser, you can:

  • Search for something specific (like "cats," "minimalist," or "anime")

  • Sort by Popular, Trending, New, or Liked to find the best ones

  • Click any theme to apply it instantly to your Canvas

Sort by Trending to see what's popular right now, or New to discover fresh uploads from the community.

Free plan limits

On the Free plan, you can:

  • Browse and view unlimited themes

  • Swap your theme 5 times per week

  • Like and comment on themes

  • Use the image editor to tweak backgrounds

If you don't have an account yet, you get 5 lifetime swaps until you sign up.

Pro unlocks unlimited swaps, full theme history, and faster review when you submit your own themes.

Theme changes not showing?

Refresh Canvas after switching

If your new theme isn't showing up, refresh your Canvas page. BetterCampus applies themes on load, so a quick refresh will display your updated look.

Check if BetterCampus is enabled

Make sure the extension is turned on. Click the puzzle piece icon in your browser toolbar, find BetterCampus, and confirm it's enabled.

Hit your weekly swap limit?

Free plans get 5 swaps per week. If you've used them all, you can still browse themes and plan your next swap, or upgrade to Pro for unlimited swaps.

What's next

Ready to make your own? You can create custom themes with your own colors, fonts, card visuals, and cursors—and share them with the community. You can also add stickers to your pages for extra personalization.
